Custom Gear Knobs

After a lot of requests, I've decided to take on orders for custom gear knobs. Everything is made to order and machined right here in Australia. You have the choice of any material, as long as I can source it, and all you need to do is send me a sketch with dimensions. Once everything is confirmed I'll then send you a quote and we can go from there.

I'll also try to keep stock of some of my own designs.

Examples of customer gear knobs can be found here:

Some useful info for me:

  • length
  • width
  • radius of any curves
  • angles if you have any
  • thread type and depth of the thread
  • desire material
  • weighted or non-weighted

The image below shows some examples of my designs and the dimensions that are required, click on it to zoom in.

My fancy AutoCAD drawing. But you don't need to do that for me, just a hand sketch or Microsoft Paint is more then adequate.

Below are some photos of my own designs, which I'll make available soon too.

My Custom Knob

So a while back I did a post on the custom prototype gear knobs I made on a lathe. Well I finally bought my self a decent camera so here are some glamor shots I've just taken.

I will be offering a custom gear knob service soon too, they'll be hand made by an experienced machinist (unlike yours truly) and can be made from aluminium, stainless steel or Delrin. All I would need from you are some sketches and dimensions. More details on this service later...

Prototype Gear Knobs

Been busy the last week with prototyping a few gear knobs that I hope to produce in the future. With help from a friend, these were turned manually on a lathe and made from stainless steel and Nylon with a steel insert. Threaded specifically for MX-5/Miata models.

Will be testing them over the next couple of weeks to see how they perform. And final production units will be available in stainless steel or Delrin.
